OTOC leaders met at Augustana Lutheran Church early on MLK day to work for justice by learning more about key bills

Nebraska Unicameral: Twenty two OTOC leaders began their celebration of  Martin Luther King day by meeting with Sen. Burke Harr of the Nebraska Unicameral to learn newly filed legislation regarding climate change, driver’s licenses for DACA qualified immigrants, Medicaid reform and other topics of interest to OTOC.

 

U.S. Congress: On Friday, January 23, sixteen OTOC leaders met with newly minted Congressman Brad Ashford about Immigration Reform, Sustainable energy and Medicaid Reform/Tax Reform.

MLK Celebration: Several tables of leaders  from OTOC member congregations joined in the celebration of MLK’s legacy and heard from Governor Ricketts, Congressman Ashford, Mayor Stothert and OPS Board President Wayne.

A  strong delegation of OTOC leaders participated in the annual luncheon honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King that is sponsored by the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (IMA). Over 40 leaders who are part of OTOC and OTOC member congregations such as  Second Unitarian Universalist,  Grace, Augustana  and other Lutheran congregations, and friends from St. Luke United Methodist all had full tables of people there to celebrate the event and hear the inspiring preaching of Rev. Dr. Zan Holmes of Dallas Texas.
