Figure 1: OTOC held an Immigration Forum on Monday, Sept 26th at Our Lady of Guadalupe. 

Figure 2: A large and diverse group of 400+ Omahans came to ready to learn& give witness.

Figure 3 :Parents like Jorge spoke about the impact of deportation of parents on children.

Figure 4 : Patricia, a college student, spoke about the need for passing the Dream Act.

Figure 5: Business leaders like Armando Salgado spoke of the economic benefits to Nebraska of immigration.

Figure 6:  United Methodist Bishop Ann B. Sherer Simpson and Nebraska Catholic Conference Director Jim Cunningham challenged us to live up to our faith traditions.

Figure 7: And OPD Dep. Chief Schmaderer spoke about how officers should interact with immigrants and committed to continue working with OTOC to improve how OPD interacts with immigrants and refugees.

Figure 8: Four Omaha area Senators  pledged to work with OTOC on a variety of legislation affecting immigrant families.

 

Figure 9: While scores of people stood throughout the meeting to learn how we can work together to improve the treatment of immigrants in Nebraska.

Figure 10 And OTOC leaders got renewed energy for the work ahead to shape a just immigration policy in our state and nation.
